MATCH REPORTS

7 Feb 2010 .... CUP

Burgess Hill Town U16 4 - 0 Hove Park Colts U16

Burgess Hill U16`s followed up their 4-1 away win at Peacehaven the previous week when giving old rivals Hove Park Colts a 4-0 drubbing at Leylands Park on Sunday.

This emphatic win puts them in the quarter final of the league cup where they will face Horsham.

The Hillians went ahead after 30 minutes and it was in spectacular fashion when fullback bradley chaston unleashed an unstoppable drive from fully 35 yards out that arrowed into the top corner with the Hove Park goalkeeper completely motionless.

Sean Latham nearly doubled the lead with a fine left foot shot which was pushed out for a corner.

Five minutes later Hill did go two up when the lively Max Miller fired in a low right foot drive after good work from Scott Dunkerton on the left hand side.

After the break Burgess Hill continued to dominate with Stillwell and Ford winning the midfield battle and when Hove Park did manage to get forward Bowra and Cook were impressive with their defending in front of their assured goalkeeper Tom Betts.

Midway through the second half Hill went three up.Miller latched onto a superb through ball from Dunkley,he outpaced his marker before going round the keeper and cooly slotting in with his left foot.

Burgess Hill made it four in the 75th minute when Alex Wison turned in a pull back from the evervescent Miller.

There was still time for Henry Tydeman to go close with a header late on.

Burgess Hill Town 6 Eastbourne Town 2

Baliah, Chaston, Latham, Bowra, Stillwell, Dunkerton, Ford, Cook, Dunkley, Miller, McCreadie.Subs;Carr,Tydeman,Wilson.

Burgess Hill under 16`s really came of age in this drubbing of title rivals Eastbourne Town! However, the six two score line in favour of Hill looked extremely unlikely after ten minutes of play! A physically strong Eastbourne team started brightly and Hillians keeper elia bahig had to make two fine saves in the opening exchanges.

Then enter into the game .........Max Miller! Firstly, after 12 minutes, Miller out muscled the Eastbourne defence to slot home from just inside the box to put Hill ahead. Five minutes later, this time down the left hand side, Miller outstripped his opposing marker to sprint clear and cooly chip the keeper from the edge of the penalty area. Hill were now two up but Eastbourne were still dangerous in attack and the back four of Chaston,Stillwell ,Bowra and Latham all had to be on their game to contain a lively Eastbourne forward line.

Hill went 3 up on 18 minutes when Miller made a great run down the left hand side, beat two defenders before crossing for McCreadie. The cross was slightly behind McCreadie but he somehow re-adjusted to execute a quite brilliant overhead kick which hit the back of the net! Five minutes later Miller was at it again and deservedly grabbed his hatrick!

After good work by Charlie Dunkley.Miller was put through and his pace and power took him clear and again he finished well in the bottom corner to put Hill in dreamland at four nil up! The second half wasn`t played at the same tempo but Hill still managed to add further goals through Scott Dunkerton(55 Mins) and that man Miller got his fourth after 70 minutes.

Henry Carr and Henry Tydeman both had good efforts before the final whistle as Hill looked to run riot. A shell shocked Eastbourne team managed a couple of late goals but it could`nt detract from a brilliant team performance from a very good young Burgess Hill team.

squad: bahig, chaston, latham, bowra, stillwell, dunkerton, ford, cook, dunkley, miller, mcreadie .... subs: carr, tydeman, wilson

This emphatic win keeps them top of the table and they have another big game this Sunday 4th October against the other strong Eastbourne team,Eastbourne Borough.

20-Sep-2009

Horsham 1 - 1 Burgess hill Town

Young Hillians extended their unbeaten start to the season with a fine performance away to a strong Horsham side. On the 22nd minuite Horsham scored with a sweet shot on the turn from the Horsham striker. Jacob cook levelled with the assist of Alex Wilson from a quick corner off Scott Dunkerton. At the break Sean Latham replaced Bradley Cchaston and Hill changed back to their usual 442 line up. The Hiill side continued to defend well early into the second half with Tom Betts making an important save from a one on one situation. In a tense and tight game in which defences dominated the Hillians were well worth their point !

squad: betts, chaston, dunkley, ford, stillwell(c), bowra, cook, wilson, dunkerton, miller, mcreadie .... subs: carr, latham, tydeman

Jarvis Brooke u16 3 -9 Burgess Hill Town u16

Our first game of the season and a win 9-3 away to Jarvis Brooke. Young Hillians bombarded the Brooke goal for the first 15 mins finding the net twice and another 10 mins before the break. In the second half, Hill again produced some more quality possession and teamwork, this was shown with another 6 goals, unfortunatly in the last 20 mins Brooke found the hillian net 3 times. Overall it was a very convincing start to a hopefull and strong young Hillians side.

Our next game is at home against Withdean at Leylands Park next Sunday (13Sep) k.o is at 10.30am and would be nice for the Hill fans to come out and support us.

SUSSEX UNDER 16 REPRESENTATIVE TEAM

November 2009 .... 5 FIVE Burgess Hill Town FC under 16 players represented a very strong Sussex side that drew 2-2 against Surrey at the Sussex Ccounty Ground in Lancing.

Tom Betts (keeper) Fionn Bowra (left back) Tom Stillwell (centre half) Lance Avery (right back) Max Miller (striker)

1st Team Manager Gary Croydon and Community Officer/Club Youth Officer Peter Miles were among the crowd that saw all five boys play the full 90 minutes and gave good accounts of themselves.

Under 16 Managers Ashley Carr and Nick Benn were rightly proud, and said that "To have 5 boys including 4 of the back 5 is testament to the strength that we have at the club."
